Our Dental Team
Dr. Giannelli loves her calling in dentistry. She began working with underserved children and felt and instant bond with community health. She believes that everyone experiences the need for help and kindness at some point in their lives, so she treats others as she wants to be treated.
Dr. Giannelli received her DDS from Northwestern University Dental School (Chicago) and her BS from St. Mary's University in Winona, MN with a double-major in Biology and Psychology and a minor in Chemistry.
Open Door Health Center is a place with a soul, where all employees have the same mission --to foster nurturing quality care for all--which is what brought her from Chicago to Mankato in 2016 as Open Door's Dental Director.
Sara Brown, as the Dental Services Manager, provides valuable support to the dentists, hygienists, and support staff in order to provide services to as many patients as possible. Sara has been a member of the ODHC team since 2011.
Dr. Liena Abreus received her dental degree from University of Minnesota School of Dentistry. In addition, she holds a dental degree from Cuba (Doctor en Estomatologia) from the Instituto Superior de Cincias Medicas-Facultad de Estomatologia Ciudad de La Habana, Cuba. Her residencies were in endodontics, TMD and oral pain. During her career, she has worked to provide care to underserved communities and has worked with patients of diverse backgrounds. Some of her experiences include Give Kids a Smile, Union Gospel of Mercy, Mission of Mercy, Habitat for Humanity, and Feeding South Florida.
She has receive awards and honors, including the Annual Student Scholarship from U of MN School of Dentistry. Dr. Abreus joined the Open Door team in 2017.
Dr. Grace Chalgren Chalgren grew up in Fargo, ND, and has participated in programs such as Give Kids a Smile and Mission of Mercy. She received her DDS from University of Minnesota (Twin Cities).
She enjoys working in a clinic that gives back to the community. Dr. Chalgren began working at Open Door in 2015.
Dr. Meagan Govig enjoys having the opportunity to serve patients on our mobile dental unit, as well as at our main site clinic in Mankato.
She received her DDS from University of Iowa College of Dentistry and her BA in Biology from St. Olaf College. Dr. Govig has been a member of the Open Door team since 2014.
Dr. McMillen graduated from University of Minnesota School of Dentistry. She has provided integrated health care through her experience with Native American Community Clinic Outreach in Minneapolis. Some of her additional work includes providing dental care through Give Kids a Smile, Mission of Mercy, and three separate Mission trips to Guatemala. Honors she's received include Dean's Scholarship and Academic Skill Scholarsip from U of M School of Dentistry, as well as Academic Presidential Honor Scholarship and finishing as the top student in the College of Science and Engineering at Winona State University.
Her areas of interest include pediatric dentistry and complete comprehensive care. She enjoys working at Open Door, where patients can receive integrated care at one location. Dr. McMillen began working at Open Door in 2017.
Dr. Creighten Murphy provides dental care for the patients visiting ODHC's main site clinic in Mankato. He received his DDS from University of Minnesota (Twin Cities).
He enjoys helping patients achieve better oral health. and knows he's accomplished this when his patients thank him at the end of their appointments. Dr. Murphy has been a member of the Open Door team since 2010.
Dr. Ashley Turrittin received her DDS from University of Minnesota (Twin Cities) and her Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study in Pediatric Dentistry from Boston University. She attended to residencies at Franciscan Hospital for Children in Brighton, MA; East Boston Neighborhood Health Center; and Boston Medical Center.
She comes to Open Door in order to offer her experience and professional training to the team who cares for the region's children who deserve the best, but don't always have access to the best. She finds it professionally rewarding to be part of something that positively affects the lives of children in this way. Dr. Turrittin began working at Open Door in 2016.
Emily is Open Door's dental therapist. Under her licensure, she is able to provide both preventative (oral health exams) and restorative care (fillings, crowns, etc.) under the oversight of our dental director. Emily received her BS in Human Biology from MSU Mankato, and her Master of Dental Therapy from the University of Minnesota, School of Dentistry.
Her areas of interest include pediatrics and restorative work. She loves the team-based interprofessional setting at Open Door, where patients are able to receive quality healthcare, all under one roof. Emily began working at Open Door in 2017.
